on-the-road-poster-jpegDon’t miss ON THE ROAD Weekly, a Country and Western news magazine show dedicated to bringing Arizona viewers the most comprehensive Country and Western news and events.  Hosted at Old Tucson Studios, the show will air weekly on CBS affiliates KPHO in Phoenix and KOLD13 in Tucson beginning Saturday, March 28, 2009 for 14 weeks.

Don’t live in Tucson or Phoenix?  No worries – the shows will be available the following week online at the Gold Buckle Network, home to more than 1300 western titles.

ON THE ROAD Weekly will host their talent segments from Old Tucson Studios in 2009.

Among the shows offerings will be:

  • Behind-the-scenes coverage on local and national movies about the Old West
  • Interviews with A-list country musicians Trick Pony, Big & Rich, and LeeAnn Rimes
  • Coverage of concerts and festivals like Country Thunder, held annually in Florence
  • Profiles on traditional destinations and gatherings throughout the Southwest.

Guests to the Old Tucson Studios set may catch a glimpse of the hosts and producers as they film segments introducing reports and interviews from country and western events and stars. The “home” segments, scheduled to be filmed weekly, will feature glimpses of Old Tucson Studios and, perhaps, comments from visitors to our world-famous film location.

The show, produced by Nandar Entertainment Inc. based in Phoenix, debuts on CBS affiliates KPHO in Phoenix and KOLD13 in Tucson on Saturday, March 28, 2009 and will air each week for 14 weeks.  ON THE ROAD Weekly is currently in negotiations with national cable and satellite providers as well as Yuma area broadcasters for additional distribution.

”The half-hour show will be like ‘Entertainment Tonight’ with a Western flair,” according to Nancy Criss, a Tucson area native and Executive Producer and Creator of ON THE ROAD Weekly“I’ve dealt with the people out at Old Tucson Studios on a lot of film projects in the past,” Criss added. “It is one of the great places in Arizona to shoot at.”

Pete Mangelsdorf, CEO and General Manager of Old Tucson Studios, believes that hosting OTR Weekly at Old Tucson Studios “fits well into Old Tucson Studio’s overall plan to attract and produce more original programming at Old Tucson Studios.”
