Cameras are rolling again in the streets and back lots of Old Tucson Studios and its sister site, Mescal, two of
Hollywood's most famous Western towns and film sets. Filming is underway at Mescal on Talmarc Productions' Miracle at Sage Creek, a Family-Western feature starring David Carradine (Kung Fu,
1972-1975; Kill Bill, 2003-2004) in a story about two families that overcome prejudice and tragedy in 1888 Wyoming when a special Christmas miracle saves the life of a small boy. The Action-Thriller Taking Charge
was recently on location at Old Tucson Studio for two weeks between January and February. The feature film stars rising young actors Amanda Brooks (D-War, Post Production) and Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie
, 1999-2003) in a story of a young woman cut off by her wealthy father who talks her boyfriend into robbing a check cashing business. The plot would explain how over a dozen police cars ended up in the middle of
Town Square at Old Tucson (see photo below).Taking Charge came on the heels of two successful shoots by the History Channel in January: one for its Wild West Tech
series and one for a Native American documentary. The episode of Wild West Tech shot at Old Tucson focused on 'gang tech'—the tools and tricks used by gangs in the Old West. For information on 2004 shoots, click here. |
